First of all, if you’ve never heard of Tone It Up, hold it right there! If you keep reading you’re going to be confused and pretty sure that I’m crazy. Definitely check out their website, get a feel for it, and read my former posts on it: here and here. Okay, now that you’re in the know… This year, as fate would have it, I had some time off school when the Tone It Up Miami retreat was scheduled! After many years of following the retreat on instagram and obsessively watching the videos afterwards, I decided this year would be my year! I didn’t have a partner in crime to go with me, and I was so nervous to go alone — but I took a leap of faith and booked it anyway. I thought it would be fun to share my experience with y’all at the Retreat this year, so you could get more of a feel as to what they’re like! Let me tell you, I definitely thought this would be just kind of something to cross of my bucket list, do once while I’m young so I could say I did — but after that weekend, I want to go back. Every. Single. Year. I had no idea how much fun I was in for!
So I packed my (extremely large and on the way there only half full) bag and headed to MIAMI! I’d never been to Miami before, so I was super excited to check out a new city. Honestly though I spent all of my time at the resort and I don’t regret that at all! Luckily there was a fellow TIU girl on my flight from Houston to Miami, and we were able to split an Uber. On arrival to the hotel, K&K banners were everywhere!!
There was an area for check in, where we checked in to our hotel, picked up our swag bags (!!!), and could sample Krave jerkey and Perfect Fit smoothies. Off to the side was a “pop up” shop where you could purchase almost anything from the TIU store at 20% off! (Hint: this is dangerous…)
Our swag was definitely to die for!! We each received: a TIU duffel bag, a retreat tote, a TU foam roller (which is harder than my previous, definitely recommend it), Asics running shoes, three tank tops, two sports bras, two pairs of tights, a swim suit, two pairs of running socks, a TIU hat, TIU lip balm, TIU salt hair spray, dry shampoo, lipstick, highlighter, a bunch of Coola samples of various products, as well as a full sized bottle of Coola SPF 30, a pair of no tangle headphones, Perfect Fit vitamins, a TIU retreat specific wrap bracelet, and a small bottle of Bon Affit wine!
We stayed at the Ritz Carlton, so you know everything was tip top! The resort had two pools, as well as a beach, and our beach chair rental fees were covered as part of the retreat!
The first activity on Thursday was actually not until dinner. There was plenty of time for us to hang out at the pool all afternoon, which was perfect! I was worried going by myself and not knowing a soul, but you could literally just walk up to any TIU girl and start a conversation. Everyone was extremely approachable and nice! You also get paired up with a room mate (you can have a single if you prefer). A few months ahead of time they send you a quiz — how messy are you when you travel? How long does it take you to get ready? Do you like cats or dogs more? Yoga or running? And they work their magic when pairing you up. The quiz was SPOT on because my room mate and I got along so great!
The first night’s event was cocktail attire. It was at a cute area/restaurant/bar of the hotel RIGHT on the beach!
There was rosé, white sparkling wine by Bon Affair, and sangria! So yum! Dinner was light this evening; salad with grilled chicken or grilled tofu. There were also TIU dressings — they had the names of them so you knew! They were delicious!
And we got to meet Katrina & Karena! I was amazed by how quickly my room mate and I managed to snag pictures with them. They mingled throughout the night and danced with us! But there was definitely a line that would kind of form where ever they went, especially this early on. They were always so sweet about pictures and never said no though!
This post has already gotten so so long, I think I may have to break things up into three posts. There were just so many pictures and the days were so jam packed! (In the best way!) Stay tuned for more details on the rest of the trip!
